TRAVELERS MUST HAVE PROPER TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
For international travel, excluding cruises that begin at and return to the same U.S. port, U.S. CITIZENS MUST HAVE A VALID PASSPORT. For cruises that begin at and return to the same U.S. port, U.S. CITIZENS must have a VALID PASSPORT or government-issued birth certificate and unexpired, government-issued photo ID for guests ages 16 and older. A current school/student ID with picture is typically an acceptable form of photo ID for guests ages 16 and 17; however, guests are ultimately responsible for ensuring current rules and regulations for travel.
Traveling with Minors: When traveling with a minor where one parent or both parents or legal guardians are not cruising, we strongly recommend bringing an original signed letter from the absent parent(s) or legal guardians authorizing the minor to travel with you. If there is no second parent with legal claims to the minor (due to sole custody, deceased, etc.) other relevant paperwork, such as court decision, death certificate, birth certificate naming only one parent, would be useful to bring in place of a signed letter. This will expedite processing by the Department of Homeland Security.
NON-U.S. CITIZENS and RESIDENT ALIENS should contact their respective embassies and U.S. Immigration for applicable regulations.

All guests are required to provide their full legal name as it appears on their travel documents i.e. government-issued photo identification, passport, etc. in order to make their reservation.
Failure to provide the full, legal name for the reservation may result in the guest being denied boarding for the cruise, denied boarding for flights (if booked with NCL) and/or denied entry into the disembarkation country.
REAL ID and Immigration Card Enhancements
Beginning May 7, 2025, travelers who are 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification in order to fly.
REAL IDs are generally marked by a star on the top of the card. Between now and the effective date of the new regulations, we encourage all travelers to check their IDs and obtain a REAL ID if they don’t already have one.
To obtain a REAL ID, please keep in mind that it requires documentation beyond what is required for most standard drivers’ licenses. Prepare to collect and present several documents to DMV officials that prove residency and identification.
REAL ID compliance varies greatly from state to state. We encourage travelers to seek information directly from the TSA at www.tsa.gov/real-id or their local DMV.
Hawaii Cruises
There's no need for a passport when you sail on any Hawaii inter-island cruise. If the ship never sails beyond the islands of Hawaii, all you need is a government-issued photo I.D. which includes a passport or a valid driver's license with a photo.
Following the procedure above will ensure that the guest receives the most accurate, up-to-date information regarding the documentation requirements for their sailing.
Specific travel document information can also be found online at: www.getyouhome.gov
Norwegian strongly recommends that all guests travel with a valid passport. If a guest either misses the ship at its scheduled U.S. departure port and needs to travel outside the U.S. to meet the ship, or unexpectedly needs to depart the ship from a foreign port prior to the end of the cruise, a passport would be required to leave or re-enter the U.S. by air.
The following documentation requirements should be noted for US citizens unless otherwise noted.
Guests of all other nationalities should consult with their travel professional, visa service agency, or local embassy/consulate for the specific entry requirements for your specific itinerary.
